Introducing a new seasonal offering from Woking Writers Circle … every few weeks we hope to publish something from one of our members that maybe reflects the time of year, or just gives you something to think about. Our first is this wonderfully magical poem by Heather Cook. It’s called ‘Woodland Christmas’. We wish you all a happy Christmas, and the best possible 2022.
WOODLAND CHRISTMAS
by Heather Cook
Beneath the ground in earth and sett
Foxes stir and badgers fret.
The owl on silent wings takes flight
On this special sparkling night.
***
Mice are pattering through dry leaves
Unconcerned what they believe,
While unseen creatures crawl and creep
And hibernating hedgehogs sleep.
***
At this time let us rejoice
With those who do not have a voice;
This Christmas night, let magic fall
And if you’re there, God, bless us all.
