There are many relief organisations that you can give money to aid Ukrainian refugees fleeing the invasion by Vladimir Putin. But Woking Writers Circle would like to publicise the fact that the church where we meet each month – St Mary’s the Virgin, Horsell – is open from Monday-Friday 10am-5pm to drop off donations for the people of Ukraine (please don’t leave donations outside when the church isn’t open).
St Mary’s said on its Facebook page: “We have had an amazing amount of donations for Ukrainians which we thank everyone for. The first van load has left the church this morning to start its journey to Poland.”
The church is asking for medical supplies such as bandages; plasters; painkillers (for both adults and children); soup powders; tinned food (with a ring pull); energy bars; coffee; tea and toiletries. Please note that we have been told they do NOT want any more donations of clothes. Please leave donations in the church porch.
