Heather has been a member of the Woking Writers Circle for several years and has self-published books about cats. These days, she mainly indulges her love of poetry. Heather hopes the tips below will help you to enjoy your writing whichever genre you favour:

1. Don’t let yourself be intimidated by a blank screen or glaringly white sheet of paper. Just start writing about anything – my favourite is a vegetable. By the time you’ve typed or scribbled a couple of hundred words about an onion, you’re good to go!

2. Always have a notebook handy – and a pen. You honestly won’t remember that brilliant thought you had at 3am. Well, I wouldn’t!
