PRESENT: Simona, Liz, Nathan, Sarah, Tricia, Cathy, Dave. Natasha, Heather
APOLOGIES: Amanda, Keith
WELCOME & INTRODUCTIONS:
We were delighted to welcome newcomers Adi and Dave to our summer celebrations.
The evening began with drinks and nibbles and lots of conversation, before settling down to some readings, with lots more socialising to follow. It had been agreed that unless feedback was specifically requested, the emphasis this evening would be on enjoying the contributions and spending time celebrating the vibrant writing community that is Woking Writers’ Circle.
COMPETITION NEWS:
Heather had previously circulated a summary of current competition opportunities.
READINGS:
We enjoyed a wide range of readings, including work from our newcomers, which was particularly welcome. We look forward very much to hearing much more from Adi and Dave.
Natasha read a short story, Remarkable Tiny. The message of the story was that what matters in life is doing the best you can and making progress according to your own abilities, a message that came across strongly and with great charm.
Sarah contributed a beautifully written nostalgic piece about a memorable fish and chips meal and there were further readings from Tricia, Liz and Heather which were greatly enjoyed.
Date of Next Meeting: Thursday 18th September:
AGM: 7.30 – 8pm (Agenda plus Note of AGM, 16th May 2024, to be circulated shortly)
Readings Meeting: 8pm
Duties to be arranged (this was a party!)
